On-Site Rules and Information
These rules apply to the build, show and breakdown period of Taste of Dublin.
They apply to anyone working on-site, whether they be a member of staff, exhibitor, sponsor, contractor, promotion team member, venue staff or local authority. This document does not supersede the exhibitor manual, restaurant manual or any other paperwork but will augment them.
Access to the site is subject to reading these rules and other appropriate material, which will include the risk assessment prepared by your company, if you have not seen this document please request from your manager.
Please ensure you read these rules in good time prior to coming on site as they may necessitate additional planning.
Please ensure all staff under your management are provided with copies of these site rules and check your colleagues have read them.
Health and Safety
General
All persons working on-site will be expected to comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation, guidance and best practice.
You must take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
If you are uncertain whether it is safe to do something or whether you are trained to do that activity, do not proceed without gaining the information you need to continue safely.
All build and breakdown activity including construction, trolley movement, hand carrying large objects etc. must only take place when the site is clear of the public and it is safe to do so.
Please comply with any requests from the operations team and Health and Safety Officer.
All accidents, incidents and near-misses must be reported to the Operations team and/or the Event Safety Officer.
Anyone working on the site must not consume or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Ensure you and all your team know where to obtain medical assistance and where the fire exits are. Anyone with a radio should be able to contact a first aider, generally during build, security provide first aid cover whilst during the open period of the event there will be a staffed first aid point. Please check when arriving on site exact first aid arrangements.
Please note the site is uneven in places; contains temporary surfaces and there are a large number of moving vehicles and plants. Please ensure all your staff are aware of this and take extreme care when moving around the site.
At all times, avoid walking on vehicles routes or on unloading areas.
All water on site is potable.
Site Work Restrictions
Written permission must be sought from the operations manager to work outside the site opening hours.
Lone work may only be carried out with written permission of the Operations Manager and appropriate measures being put in place.
Please notify the event safety officer if you intend to undertake major working at height or hot works.
No under 16’s should be on-site outside of the opening hours. Any under 18’s working on-site will require the submitting of a specific risk assessment.
Any hazardous substances including LPG should be declared at the site office, subsequent to permission being sought in advance.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
High visibility jackets must be worn during the build period and from the Monday morning of breakdown, especially if working in vehicle movement areas. High vis jackets will be available for purchase at the Merrion Square East entrance. Access will be denied if a high vis jacket is not worn on the event build and event breakdown days.
Sturdy shoes should be worn whenever on-site.
Structures and Excavations
Any tents or structures brought on-site must have wind loadings that have been submitted to the operations team in advance. These wind loadings should come from a competent qualified structural engineer or in some case manufacturers’ warranty and method statement. In exceptional circumstances a structure without a wind loading may be allowed on site, written permission must be sought, in this situation the user of the structure must actively manage and monitor the structure and be prepared to strengthen or take it down if conditions necessitate.
For any penetration of the ground e.g. for tent pegs the ground permission must be sought and the ground must be scanned first. Any cables found must be assumed to be live until otherwise proved and all pipes must be assumed to be gas until otherwise proved.
It is expected all major structures are designed, built and managed in accordance with the guidelines of “Temporary Demountable Structures; guidance on procurement, design and use [third edition].”
For all major-bespoke structures structural calculations will need to be submitted in advance of the event, the organisers may require the structure to be signed off by an independent structural engineer, the cost of which will be passed onto the company building the structure.
Plant and Equipment
All forklifts (and other plant) must be labelled and no keys are to be left in vehicles.
Please do not allow people to walk by a load being carried or act in such a way that if a load slipped it would injure a person.
Any forklift used on site must follow the site forklift rules, if you don’t have a copy please request one.
Any contractor or exhibitor planning to use plant on site must seek permission from the organiser. They must be on site to take delivery and must remain on site to see the collection of the equipment.
All electrical equipment brought on site should be in good working order and checked.
All gas equipment should be connected by a competent, registered engineer and have a sign off certificate. NB no jubilee clips allowed on gas equipment.
Fire Safety
No gas installation is allowed on the event site.
Do not allow any flammable materials within 1m of flames or cooking equipment.
All open flames should be protected from contact by the public.
In the event of a fire please report as outlined above and warn others in the area, your priority is your and others safety.
Food Hygiene
All persons working on-site will be expected to comply with all relevant Food Hygiene legislation, guidance and best practice.
All staff working with food must be trained and/or supervised by a competent person.
Any equipment must be cleaned before use, even if just delivered.
Check and record Refrigeration content temperatures regularly as power supplies can fail, especially in the mornings upon arrival.
Do not overload Refrigerators, they need air to circulate.
Anyone who is suffering from or who has suffered from vomiting and/or diarrhea in the last 48 hours must not work in any kitchens or with food in any way.
Anyone running a cook school or similar style area (i.e. public cooking) must take extra care, ensuring public are briefed and supervised, they must abide by Taste Festivals cook school rules, if you don’t have a copy please ask for one.
All water installations and storage on site must comply with relevant legislation. Water should be potable and wholesome.
Traffic
Upon arrival all vehicles should report to the traffic marshals at the unloading location you have been directed to.
The site speed limit is 5mph/8kmh.
Please follow the instructions of the traffic marshals and security on Merrion Square East, North and within the venue. When reversing use a banksman.
Hazard lights should NOT be used on site.
Vehicle movement is restricted to hard standing, roads and track way. Vehicles may only be taken across grass with permission of the Operations Manager and managed by traffic marshals and/or Hands Officer.
Other
If you see an incident, fire, accident etc. please report it immediately to a steward, member of the management team, organisers or site office.
The site opening hours must be adhered to, no over running will be allowed. If you are not aware of the operating hours please ask.
If you are issued with a radio please follow the communications protocols contained within radio usage guide. If you do not have a copy of these please request one.
No parking under trees.
No driving, or parking on the grass.
No dogs (or other pets) to be brought on site at any time.
Nothing may be attached to trees, fences etc. without the permission of an Operations Manager.
All waste must be disposed of in a responsible manner.
Any filming at the event must be cleared with the operations team, activity using large equipment e.g. jibs must be stewarded.
All waste is to be removed from site by contractors.
Noise levels must not disturb other workers or members of the public, if asked to reduce noise levels please do so.
This event and any person attending or working on it may be filmed, photographed and/or recorded. By working at this event:
You acknowledge that you have been informed that you may be photographed and/or filmed and/or recorded and you give your irrevocable permission to be photographed and/or filmed and/or recorded.
You grant your irrevocable permission for your likeness, mannerisms and/or voice to be included in any content from such filming, photographs and /or recording (and edited) without compensation and/or credit, which content may be communicated and/or exploited in any and all media worldwide in all perpetuity.

If you are serving alcohol on site please obtain a copy of the event’s alcohol policy, please note:
A “Challenge 21” policy should be adopted.
No alcohol should be sold to under 18s.
No persons believed to be under the influence should be served any more alcohol.
All bars serving alcohol must call last orders 15 minutes prior to the event session closing.
